Privacy Policy for Je T'aime

This Privacy Policy explains what information Je T'aime ("we," "us," or "our") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Je T'aime mobile app and related services (the "Service").

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Account information
When you sign in (e.g. with Google), we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your identity provider. We store these so that you and your partner can recognize each other in-app.

1.2 Content you create
Je T'aime is built around content you create for your partner: answers to questions, conversations, voice notes, dates, surprises, and other items you add to shared spaces. We store this content so that you and your partner can access it.

1.3 Couple relationship data
We store the link between you and your partner, your shared spaces, an optional "secret love word" used during onboarding, and timestamps such as when an item was last seen.

1.4 Device and push notification data
If you enable notifications, we store a push notification token tied to your device. We also collect basic device information needed to deliver the Service.

1.5 Usage and diagnostic data
We collect limited technical information such as request timestamps, error logs, and performance data to keep the Service reliable.

1.6 Payment information
If we introduce paid features in the future, payments will be processed by a third-party payment processor (such as Stripe). We do not store full payment card details on our servers.

2. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:
  - operate the Service and deliver your content to your linked partner;
  - authenticate you and keep your account secure;
  - send push notifications about activity in your shared spaces;
  - generate optional AI suggestions (e.g. date ideas) at your request;
  - fix bugs, monitor performance, and improve the Service;
  - communicate with you about your account or important changes;
  - comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use the content you create to train third-party AI models.

3. AI features

When you use AI-assisted features (e.g. date planning with Claude), the prompts needed to generate the suggestion are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic). We pass the minimum information needed and ask that it not be used for model training. AI providers may retain the data briefly for abuse monitoring per their own terms.

4. Service providers

We rely on a small set of vetted providers to run the Service, including:
  - identity providers (e.g. Google) for sign-in;
  - cloud database providers (e.g. MongoDB Atlas) for storage of account and content data;
  - object storage providers (e.g. Cloudflare R2) for audio and media;
  - push notification providers (e.g. Expo / FCM / APNs) for alerts;
  - email providers (e.g. Resend) for transactional emails;
  - AI providers (e.g. Anthropic) for AI features;
  - payment processors (e.g. Stripe) if/when paid features are offered.

These providers process information on our behalf and only for the purposes described in this policy.

5. Sharing with your partner

The whole point of Je T'aime is to share content with your linked partner. Anything you place in a shared space is visible to them. If you disconnect from a partner, content already shared with them may remain visible in their own copy of the Service until deletion is requested.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you request deletion, we will erase your account and associated content within a reasonable period (typically within 14 days of verifying your request), except where retention is required by law (for example, tax records or fraud prevention).

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email bauerstevenson@gmail.com from the address on your account.

You can request full account deletion at any time via /delete-account or by emailing bauerstevenson@gmail.com.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls, vetted providers) to protect your information. No service can be perfectly secure; please use a strong password on your linked identity provider and report anything suspicious.

9. Children's privacy

Je T'aime is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. International data transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, including the United States and the European Union. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you in-app or by email. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
